Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation (MBSM) – Gawler Cancer Foundation
Mindfulness research shows that we have around 60 000 thoughts per day, and that 90% of them we also had yesterday, and the day before.
Understanding the nature of the mind, and learning techniques to manage it, helps us live a more happy and balanced life. As we develop our ability to pay attention, drawing the mind back from ruminating over the past, or projecting into the future, we find a deep natural peace here in the present moment. We also deepen our understanding of ourselves and become more skillful in living a happier life.
An important practice that positively impacts every part of life – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Hatha Yoga from the Satyananda tradition is an authentic lineage that reaches back into the ancient heart of yoga, the intention of which was, and still is, to experience deep states of peace in body, mind & spirit.
Postures keep the body strong and flexible, while learning to breath properly is essential for optimum health, and helps to focus and calm the mind.
Satyananda Yoga is suitable for everybody. Variations, modifications and extensions are given to allow you to participate in a way that keeps you safe and engaged.
Classes finish with Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation practice) leaving you feeling calm and relaxed.
Every culture has music, so it must be important! Coming together to sing creates a positive vibration on every level - mind, body & spirit - and promotes a sense of connection amongst the group. It’s uplifting, fun and everyone can do it despite what you may have been told as a child!
Songs are drawn from different wisdom traditions from around the world and can involve rhythm activities, movement, part singing, rounds and other musical tricks giving the mind something creative to focus on.
No musical experience required.
