Cancer Wellbeing

If you have been struggling to find your feet and re-connect with life after cancer treatment then these classes may be for you. Did you know that almost one in two people suffer from significant mental health issues after a cancer diagnosis and treatment? Dealing with worrying thoughts and emotions can be overwhelming, you can lose your confidence and feel at a loss to know what to do next. These classes will give you a safe place to land, pause and reflect.  

 

The techniques and ideas offered are practical and evidence-based.  They draw from the modern-day understanding of The Gawler Cancer Foundation and the ancient philosophy of Yoga.  

 
 

01/ Yoga for Wellbeing after cancer

Support healing and find peace of mind

Nurturing, healing and informative, these classes will give you tools to support the healing process, restore joy and purpose, create calmness and peace of mind. 

Each class includes:

 

  • Gentle yoga postures and breath awareness

  • Deep relaxation

  • Mindfulness practice

  • Woven together with themes to create harmony in body, emotions & mind

  • Evidence-based interventions to give you the best chance of being well

 

 

Class Format:

1/ Gentle yoga postures which are centred on a simple series of joint rotations that help stimulate circulation and free the body’s natural vital energy. This series of exercises is accessible to all so don’t worry if you have never been to a yoga class before.

 

2/ Breathing practices which will help you feel grounded and centred. They actively put you in the ‘green zone’ for healing, which means they stimulate the side of the nervous system that activates the relaxation response. You will learn to breathe using the full capacity of the lungs so you can nourish the body with every breath you take.

 

3/ Yoga Nidra, a guided relaxation practice which is deeply restorative and allows the body to come back to its own natural balance physically, mentally and emotionally.  

The practices of yoga and mindfulness support our wellbeing on every level - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
